Baby Steps...

The car I have always wanted....

Well, this weekend I get to pay off my first debt in full.  Now don't get too excited for me since it only had a $57.00 balance, but that means I can start on the next one with an additional $50.00 per month!  It has been a long month just waiting to actually start the Snowball Payment Plan, and now that I have started it is very exciting.

I almost had a VERY big moment of weakness this past week.  My car has a few items that need attention, and  my husband keeps telling me that we are going to have to start putting money into the car so maybe we should consider buying a new car.  And because I love all things shiny, I went and looked at the one car I have wanted since I was in high school a Jeep Wrangler.  I went and test drove that and a Dodge Charger and I loved the Charger and did not enjoy the Jeep as much as I thought I would.  Thank goodness they could not get the payment down to where I wanted ( I think I was being unreasonable, but I don't think I really wanted to buy the car) so we walked out and I immediately felt like thousand pounds was lifted off my shoulders!  I have about 10 months or so until my car is paid for and I look forward to the day when I can pay cash for a car.

In the past I have made lots and lots of purchases that did not feel right, but I still made them.  I seem to have this innate ability to discern good from bad purchases, unfortunately I don't always listen to the good voice.  I seem to have buyer's remorse so often, does anyone else suffer from buyer's remorse on a regular basis?

    1. It seems the place I seem to overspend the most in my food budget. Being so tired when I get home, I tend to want stuff that is easy and quick, so that is more expensive. Additionally, I will take stuff out and when I get home I am too tired to cook so it goes to waste! Trying to find the balance there also:)

  2. I used to have so many debts but despite that, I still spent and had no 'buyers remorse!'. It took me years and years to pay debts off. Last year, I finally got everything paid off. I put every penny into paying things off. I even cut up my credit card with the added encouragement of my husband! I have no debts now except for the family ones such as mortgage etc. It feels fantastic. I only buy things with cash or my debit card now and if I can't afford it,I either wait and save or do without. In the past, if I really wanted something, I just got out the card and bought it. But I only ever paid minimum payments back so with interest, the debt got bigger. I will never EVER get a credit card again. If I need to use one, I use my husbands or mothers and give them the cash into their hand their and then. Occasionally, I still buy something that I don't really need or that wasn't a good purchase and I do suffer buyers remorse. I think that's a good thing, as the guilt should stop me from doing it too often again as I did in the past!

    1. I agree, I think the guilt helps me stay focused. And the less guilt I have seems to mean that I am spending less foolishly so it is a positive thing! Thanks for sharing your story.
